Joecephus “Skipp Coon” Martin is a rapper, filmmaker and cultural worker from South Jackson, Mississippi. Across projects including A Change Gon’ Come, women revolution tennis shoes, Sophomore Slump and the acclaimed Miles Garvey, Skipp has developed a distinct body of Southern liberation music that’s historically grounded, politically unsparing and deeply personal.
Releasing in August 2026, August: Radio Free Jafrica marks Skipp’s return after more than a decade between full-length albums. The album treats Mississippi as both subject and broadcast signal for what becomes possible when Black people remember clearly, tell the truth and refuse erasure
